Holland Phillips writes inspiring, uplifting New Age music that stirs the soul. He uses his diverse musical experiences (studying classical and then playing rock, pop, jazz and dream pop) to infuse traditional New Age with popular song formats and beautiful melodies that create what reviewers call “addictive, melodious and enjoyable.”
Heavily influenced by legendary artists like Alan Parsons, Rick Wakeman (Yes) and Vangelis, this prolific artist focuses on creating a musical journey for the listener on each album, with music that stirs deep emotions and memories.
Holland has been surrounded by music his entire life. He grew up with a music teacher for a mother and a father who was a big band aficionado. He began writing songs and playing piano at age five, and added guitar soon after, and was part of plays, band and chorus groups throughout his school years. Graduating college with a degree in Music Composition, he then spent a few years in New York playing and singing in a folk rock duo and attending private workshops run by Paul Simon in New York City’s upper-east side.
From there he moved to the Midwest and toured with southern and classic rock bands playing keyboards and guitar, and shared the stage with the likes of Larry Coryell, Three Dog Night, Livingston Taylor, American Noise and many others. He has since added bass guitar and flute to the arsenal of live instruments he records with.
After leaving the road he spent some time recovering, then started releasing instrumental albums at what reviewers call “a torrid pace,” with songs that showcase his diverse background and feature beautiful melodies and lush orchestrations.
His eleven instrumental albums were nominated or won awards almost too numerous to mention, including Contemporary Instrumental Album of the Year (3x), Album of the Year (2x) and Piano With Instrumentation Album of the Year, Track of the Year (2x) and more. He’s gained tens of thousands of listeners on social media, and currently releases his music through The Orchard and VEVO.
His twelfth album, “A Sense of Distance,” was mastered by 3x Grammy® Award- Winner, Ricky Kej, and is scheduled to release this July.
