petrified-forest-jill-homeJill is an oboist, English horn player, pianist, educator, and composer who has written and released seven recordings about the National Parks in the United States.

Known for her music about National Parks, Jill turned to a new source for inspiration during the pandemic since travel was not allowed.

Her 8th release, “Wrapped in Light, is a collection of eight instrumental pieces written and recorded on oboe, English horn, piano, synthesizers, cello, and guitar, based on the nature images of the Book of Psalms.

CD Cover The Forests and Shores of Acadia jill haley“The Forests and Shores of Acadia” is Jill’s latest release about music she wrote while an Artist in Residence at Acadia National Park in Maine. While in Acadia, Jill became aware that all five senses were fully engaged and influenced her writing. Eating wild blueberries, walking on a soft forest carpet, and hearing the waves lap against the shoreline are just a few examples.

Jill has written, recorded, and released 7 recordings about our National Parks:

Additionally, she wrote 3 pieces for a Dance Troupe performance entitled “Harvest Moon.” As well, she wrote many pieces for ONE ALTERNATIVE, a chamber group comprised of guitar, oboe/ English horn, violin, bass and percussion.

6 National Parks, 1 National Preserve and 1 National Monument have invited Jill to be an Artist in Residence. She spent time in these places writing and performing new music created while she was there.

Jill also regularly performs on oboe and English horn with orchestras such  as York and Reading Symphonies.

  • Zone Music Reporter award for “Best Piano Album with   Instrumentation” for Mesa Verde Soundscapes.
  • Regular airplay on radio stations and music services worldwide, including satellite radio, Sirius/XM.
  • Carnegie Hall performance by Jill of a set of National Park music.
  • Performance of National Park Suite, an arrangement of 4 National Park pieces for solo oboe and orchestra, by Berks Sinfonetta.
