Keith Fiala is an Austin Winds endorsed trumpet artist, and one of the most exciting, innovative, and versatile trumpet players and educators/clinicians on the music scene today.
Originally from Des Moines, Iowa, Fiala moved to Austin, Texas in 1988 to study with Raymond Crisara at the University of Texas. (study what exactly?)
A First Call trumpeter in Austin and throughout the Lone Star State, Keith co- founded, and was a performer with, the celebrated R&B group, Memphis Train Revue. Fiala toured the world performing with his mentor, the legendary trumpeter and bandleader, Maynard Ferguson.
In 2017, Keith joined his long-time hero, ten-time Grammy® winner, Arturo Sandoval, to assist him in all facets of his amazing career. Keith assisted Arturo as road manager, audio engineer, video producer, as well as performing on stage.
A dedicated educator and clinician, Fiala taught at the prestigious Austin School of Music and held the position of Trumpet Teacher at Temple College, where he performed as lead trumpet in the Temple Jazz Orchestra and featured soloist for the Temple Fusion group for 10 years.
Keith is the author of the celebrated trumpet diagnostic methodology, “About Face: Let’s Play All Night,” as well as the book, “Secrets To Efficient Brass Playing.”
In addition to sharing the stage with Arturo Sandoval, Fiala has performed with other jazz greats, Gordon Goodwin, Wayne Bergeron, Randy Brecker, The Temptations, Brian Lynch, Allen Vizzutti, Bill Watrous, Dan Higgins, Charles Davis, Walt Johnson, Tom “Bones” Malone, and a host of many others.
