Kelly Andrew – Revelation – Album Review by Dyan Garris

Kelly Andrew - Revelation 3kRevelation” by Kelly Andrew

Album Review by Dyan Garris for New Age CD, Zone Music Reporter (ZMR), and “Spirit Seeker Magazine

The extraordinarily vibrant music on “Revelation” by Kelly Andrew will transport you through time and space and back to a place of oneness in your heart. Epic, cinematic, and orchestral, this album is an exciting experience for mind, body, and soul that you will not soon forget.  Lovingly crafted, divinely inspired, this is a remarkable journey through existence where Beauty and Light greet you at the door. – Dyan Garris

Kelly Andrews is a composer and musician who has written over 200 compositions and has been recognized for his music and nominated many times for various music awards. His song, “Journey” won an IMA award in 2015. Fast-forward to now.  Kelly has written, produced, and recorded 5 previous albums. His new album, releasing in March 2021, “Revelation,” was a project and a “labor of love” that was 3-1/2 years in the making.

In addition to writing, arranging the music on the album, Kelly performs on vocals, piano, and keyboards. Joining him on the album are artists, Christina Seaborn, Merethe Soltvedt, Jami Seiber, Randy Chavez, Christian Teele, Joseph Young, and Kailin Yong.

“Revelation” is big. The music doesn’t really fit into the New Age genre, specifically. It’s more like music for film. The 17 tracks are bold, epic, vibrant, cinematic, and orchestral. The album was meant to be a journey; an experience. And it is. The music actually leaves you breathless.

The album opens with the title track. The song gets your attention right away, is quite riveting, and leads the way into the rest of this expansive, expressive story. Again, this is something one would hear in a film. Following is “Times Untold.” Equally as cinematic, this is a great composition – dynamic and enjoyable – and one I think we might hear in a commercial someday. “Spark of Life” starts out gently and has nice, exciting build. The wordless vocals are perfect here too. This took me on some kind of “space odyssey,” really. It’s like something you’d hear in a Star trek or Star Wars movie. Excellent.

As I mentioned, all the music here is vibrant and dynamic; it’s all really exciting and every note is crafted with care. I can’t address all 17 tracks, as space does not permit. However, here are some other favorites:

The exciting “Escape” features a rhythmic percussive beat, which is very cool, and is rather like a collective and primal heartbeat. “Onagar” has a kind of exotic flair to it. Flowing and mysterious, this has a World feel to it. But beyond that, one could call it, “galactic.” The music is definitely transportive.

Almost like a lullaby, “Veil of Tears” touches the heart and opens the emotions with gentle piano, sensitively played, and beautiful, poignant, string arrangements.  Long ago, Samaria was an ancient capital of the northern Kingdom of Israel. The song, “Samaria” is hauntingly beautiful. Gorgeous, wordless vocals are woven through this sultry, slower paced piece which is one of my ultimate favorites on this album. Emotionally evocative, every note is perfect.

This memorable and epic album closes out with “Divine Embrace,” which feels exactly like that. It’s a gorgeous, universal hug, which is both relaxing and comforting.

If you like big, bold, and dynamic, you will most certainly want to get this whole album. I think no one does it better.
