Liquid Planet | David Vito Gregoli and Ricky Kej | Review

David Vito Gregoli & Ricky Kej - 2Liquid Planet: Chillax Music” by David Vito Gregoli & Ricky Kej

Album Review by New Age CD and New Age Notes Radio Staff

“Liquid Planet” by David Vito Gregoli and Ricky Kej is a celebration of nature through music and an encouragement to find harmony and balance.

The ten harmonically rich tracks found here are organic, sculptural vignettes of seasons, trees, water, and the elements that give us life.

Three-time Grammy® Award-winner, and environmental activist with many world honors and awards, Ricky Kej, has released several albums with environmental themes, including the well-received, “Wild Monsoon,” in 2022 with multi-instrumentalist and producer, David Vito Gregoli, who shares Ricky’s deep concern for our environment.

After the overwhelmingly positive response to “Wild Monsoon,” which blends New Age with world beats, the two decided to reimagine the album as a more meditative and ambient album which they call, “Liquid Planet.” The new versions of each song keep the essential material from the original with the global grooves replaced with threads of serenity, hence the “chillax” subtitle.

Here, we have 10 lovely chill tracks, beginning with the magical, “Summer.” This 7-minute track is rich with various elements, including flute and strings, giving all a wonderful and intricate texture.

Following is the equally magical, “Winter.” This incorporates percolating beats with guitar and other elements, giving this even more enjoyable flair.

Some favorites on the album: “Spring” is light, fresh, and airy, as the title implies. Here, in the lovely melody, we feel rejuvenation and new life approaching. Very nice!

“Mahatma (chill mix),” is decidedly relaxing in every way. What I really love here and throughout the album are the elaborate layers and textures, including some vocals, which fully engage the listener in every way and add to the intrigue and overall appeal of the album.

“Rain” is mysterious and deep, again with many layers. And here, in addition to gorgeous strings, we are also treated to the addition of sweet, smooth vocals by Kimberly Haynes. “Om Shanti, return to nature, return again. . .” How very beautiful, all through.
