Lisa Swerdlow | A Rhapsody Lives in You

A Rhapsody“A Rhapsody Lives in You” by Lisa Swerdlow

Single Review by New Age CD and New Age Notes Radio Staff

A Rhapsody is an ecstatic expression of feeling or enthusiasm.” In music, “a rhapsody is a one-movement work that is episodic yet integrated, free-flowing in structure, featuring a range of highly contrasted moods, color, and tonality.”

When Lisa’s wife of nearly 27 years became ill with a rare, aggressive cancer, Lisa heard and felt her spouse’s laughter, her life force energy, coming through as music. Hence, she was inspired to write, this extraordinarily beautiful and full of love piano single, “A Rhapsody Lives in You.”

This piece was recorded at Piano Haven Studios. (Joe Bongiorno). As well, the piece was orchestrated by Doug Hammer.

A truly lovely, scintillating piano opening, leading into the dramatic, with deep lower register tones and chords, then moving into a different melody in the upper register, and so on. Free flowing, yet structured, there are some really wonderful chord progressions here, along with gorgeous melodies. The cadence is perfect as well. This is an outstanding song in every way, and a 4-1/2-minute celebration of life and love to be sure. It’s a “must have.”
