LOUIS ANTHONY DELISE
Louis Anthony deLise: The American composer Louis Anthony deLise was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He moved with his family at age six to rural Pennsylvania where he attended public schools and began his music study. He studied jazz drumming as a youngster and taught himself to play the piano by making up tunes and reading through fake books at the family spinet.
Characterized by beautifully poignant neoclassical melodies and the energy and rhythmic potency of modern rock, deLise’s compositions represent an amalgam of his work in the pop music and academic concert music worlds—he refers to his work as, “post-genre.”
