Louis Anthony DeLise is an award-winning composer, conductor, and pianist best known for his work in the classical, New Age, and contemporary music scenes. He has arranged for a variety of performers, including the Grammy®-winning band, Halestorm, Bunny Sigler, Robert Hazard, and Grammy®-winner, Peter Nero. He was arranger and conductor on Grammy®-winner Patti LaBelle’s number-one hit album, “The Gospel According to Patti LaBelle.” His arranging and conducting work also appears on albums alongside performances by many of the country’s top musical artists including, Carlos Santana, Sheila E., Wynonna Judd, Kanye West, CeCe Winans, and Paul Shaffer.
Nancy Rumbel is a Grammy®-winning multi-instrumentalist, known for her proficiency in playing the oboe, and her contributions to various genres of music. She has recorded with many well-known musicians, including David Lanz, The Paul Winter Consort, and guitarist Eric Tingstad, with whom she formed the Grammy Award-winning duo, Tingstad & Rumbel.
Louis’ new track, “Iridescence“ was created as a birthday present for his good friend, Nancy Rumbel. In addition to piano, electronic keyboard, and percussion composed and recorded by Louis, Nancy composed and recorded the quite memorable oboe melody.
In building the track, Louis used a wide array of percussion instruments including a “wine bottle xylophone,” made from bottles he and his wife “collected” during lockdown, as well as his antique Deagan marimba, antique Constantinople K-Zildjian cymbal, and other small instruments from his collection, including a scrap metal bushing he uses as a bell in the piece.
“Iridescence” by Louis Anthony deLise (feat. Nancy Rumbel), is a sparkling and scintillating piece. It’s captivatingly brilliant, just like its name. The song is mesmerizing and tantalizing in its ever-changing melodic colors and hues that fully capture the imagination from start to finish. This is a delightfully engaging piece in every nuance.
