If you’ve ever been there, you know first-hand that New Orleans has its own special kind of magic. The music, the food, the people. . .the music.

“Evening On The Esplanade” by Orchestra Indigo (Rick K. Randlett) perfectly captures the ambience of dining outdoors at a café in that special city, on a beautiful evening, watching people pass by, and absorbing the music that infuses New Orleans at a very deep level. This gently orchestrated piece has a second meaning, as when Rick lived in New Orleans in the ’90s he lived on Esplanade Ave.

Richard Randlett holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Keene State College, where he studied composition with well-regarded composer, Hubert C Bird.  Rick also did graduate work in theory and composition at the University of Massachusetts.

For the past twenty years Rick has performed and recorded as a Blues Rock artist as well as teaching music privately.  He has released five CDs of all original songs.

Rick’s larger scale compositions tend to be minimalistic, neo-impressionist works that are always designed to evoke emotions in the listener. We have that here too.

Piano and soft synth do a lovely and slow dance together in this composition. A repeating piano melody line calms the soul and psyche quite nicely. The string orchestration is wonderful, smooth and mellow, making the whole thing serene, tranquil, and totally relaxing. It’s a peaceful evening in NOLA. Beautiful.
