Robin Spielberg, a classically trained pianist, began her now prolific music and composing career at a young age. As of 2015, Spielberg has recorded seventeen albums and appears on over fifty compilations. Her latest release (April, 2015) is “Another Time, Another Place.”
Robin has an impressive tour schedule both nationally and overseas. Performance highlights within the United States include three sold-out performances at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall (New York City).
Overseas, she has toured South Korea three times appearing at KBS Hall, Seoul Arts Center and the LG Arts Center (2010). Spielberg is signed with Sony/ATV Music Publishing in Asia and her piece “An Improvisation on the Canon in D” is used in the soundtrack of the South Korean television drama series, Winter Sonata.
A little history on Robin Spielberg: After earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with high honors from New York University, Ms. Spielberg began a performance career as a soloist in New York City’s finest piano rooms. Her masterful compositional technique along with her extraordinary gift for creating enchanting melodies has won her a place among the nation’s most respected and beloved contemporary pianists, as well as an official slot (1996) on Steinway’s Artist Roster.
In 1993 Robin’s debut album, “Heal of the Hand,” was picked up by North Star Music record label and went on to be the label’s #1 selling recording in both 1994 and 1995.
Following her best-selling debut on North Star Music, Robin signed on with the label to record five more CDs. Her off-Broadway musical for children, “Balloonland,” written with Barry Shulak, premiered at The Atlantic Theater Company in New York City after a summer production in Burlington, Vermont. The Actor’s Equity Association granted money to the production so that it could tour children’s hospitals throughout the city.
In 2002, Robin was named national celebrity spokesperson for the American Music Therapy Association. As spokesperson, Spielberg often conducts seminars and workshops on the transformative power of music in hospitals, schools, and community centers while on tour. She has also performed fundraisers for medical and other charities as well as sharing her music with those in nursing homes.
In 2010, Robin and her husband/business partner Larry Kosson also joined forces with The Roots Agency, creating The Roots Agency/SMG Artists, a company representing touring acts in the U.S. and abroad.
