Single Review by New Age CD and New Age Notes Radio Staff

The Song Gardeners is a captivating musical group consisting of the California-based,  multi-talented duo, Corrie Dunn and Mary Gospe. They have combined their musical prowess and passion to create unique and uplifting musical experiences that have universal appeal.

Both Corrie and Mary are multi-talented singer-songwriters, vocalists, and musicians who inspire positive change through their music. Their music blends various genres, including folk, acoustic, and world music, resulting in a refreshing and soulful sound that embraces listeners with warmth and sincerity. The core of their musical style lies in the fusion of enchanting melodies, heartfelt lyrics, and harmonious vocals that beautifully complement each other.

One of the group’s most compelling traits is their ability to create music that not only touches hearts but also empowers individuals to take positive, forward moving actions in life. The themes found in their lyrical songs act as seeds of inspiration, encouraging listeners to develop a deeper understanding of their relationship with themselves, each other, and the planet.

So, The Song Gardeners’ music is not merely an artistic expression but also a catalyst for positive change. Their lyrics carry messages of hope, urging people to recognize the power they have in making a difference on individual levels as well as in the world.

Their new single, “Future Lives,” delves into three main stages of life. The song goes from birth to early childhood, and speaks to the innocence and curiosity about life that phase encompasses, to the middle adulthood stage where people try to figure out who they are and what they’re doing here, and then on to the mature adult phase where our we can pass on our accumulated wisdom to future generations.

“Walking the line, speaking your mind, keeping the time. . .

A new generation taking over; letting it be, keeping it free

From the walls of conventionality.”

The first two verses are characterized by a jazzy groove consisting of keyboards, bass, and Corrie’s lovely, heartfelt vocals which touch the soul and lead us in. Then the musical theme shifts to a more complex pattern, rhythm, and melody, representing the maturity phase of life.

“Some rules never change, we are born innocent

As the years carry us from stage to stage

There’s no turning back, so let’s pass on what we’ve learned to the future lives.”

The piece has broad appeal and features Corrie on lead vocals and piano with Mary singing beautiful harmonies. James Butler performs on synths and contributes bass/drumbeats. Producer David Scheibner adds guitars and synths to the wonderful mix. “Future Lives” sparkles in all aspects of the present. Artistically brilliant.

Releasing on August 1, 2023, “Future Lives” will be available on all popular streaming platforms. Meanwhile, pre-save/pre-order here:
